I’m not here to dictate other people’s morality. I’m certainly not here to call for banning of the risky activities of consenting adults. And my moral calculus is my own. Surely it is a man’s right to endanger his body, and just as it is my right to decline to watch. The actions of everyone in between are not my consideration.

I’m out.

Tough shit for you guys, because I’m not tired of talking about it. I’ve known rich people, and why not, since I’m one of them? The majority would rather douse their dicks with lighter fluid, strike a match, and dance around singing “Disco Inferno” than pay one more cent in taxes to Uncle Sugar.

Is profit bad?

in reply to this post, michellepdx answered: “My fear as a knitter is that I will make something glorious for someone, and then it will be shunned by the TA as trying to make profit.”

The fact is I *would* be trying to make a profit. I’ve made plenty of hats and scarves for my friends over the years, and to donate to silent auctions, raffles, and other fund-raising/altruistic causes within the TA. I made the banner hanging in the Bitter End Pub. I’ve given four of my recent scarves to the No Pity Van (in exchange for a few badges) for them to give away or sell or raffle as they see fit. I love to knit and I love the Timbers and the Timbers Army.

Is it bad for me to make these hats and try to sell them to TA at a profit to myself? Does/should my personal history within the TA matter (i.e. do I get a pass because people know me and I’m not a hecklewood carpetbagger)?

I’m curious to hear your thoughts about this because I’m broke and figured selling hats to TA would be a legit and fun way to make a little dough and spread a little hand-crafted schwag around town. If I do start selling them I’ve thought I would donate some of the profits to the Gisele Currier fund, but as I say I’d be trying to make some money for myself too.
